Northwoods Lost Animal Recovery Program (NLARP)

The Northwoods Lost Animal Recovery Program (NLARP) is a regional initiative focused on improving lost pet recovery outcomes in rural northern Wisconsin. In areas where dense forests, wetlands, and large tracts of land make traditional search efforts difficult, NLARP integrates aerial drone technology with coordinated ground recovery strategies to locate animals more efficiently.

The program is operated by Halo Aerial Recovery and works in coordination with experienced recovery organizations such as Rockin’ Paws Ranch, combining aerial visibility with proven ground-based tracking and recovery techniques. This integrated approach significantly improves the likelihood of locating lost animals while reducing the time and resources required during critical search windows.

NLARP is designed to support pet owners, shelters, and rescue organizations by providing access to tools and capabilities that are not typically available through standard recovery efforts. By leveraging thermal imaging and aerial search methods, the program is able to cover large and difficult terrain quickly, particularly in situations where visibility is limited or time is a critical factor.

As the program develops, NLARP aims to expand its capabilities and partnerships to better serve communities throughout the region, helping ensure that more lost animals have a safe path home.

Why It Matters

In rural areas, lost animals can quickly move into terrain where visibility is limited and traditional search efforts become increasingly difficult. Time is often a critical factor, and delays can significantly reduce the chances of a successful recovery.

By integrating aerial search capabilities with coordinated ground efforts, NLARP is designed to improve efficiency, expand search coverage, and increase the likelihood of locating animals in challenging environments.
